Billie Joe Armstrong will reprise his role of the pusher St. Jimmy when the movie version of the Broadway version of the Grammy-winning album Green Day released seven years ago hits the silver screen, the Hollywood Reporter writes. Getting Armstrong in the film was essential for producers — one of whom is actor Tom Hanks — as ticket sales often plummeted for the Idiot shows that didn’t feature Armstrong as St. Jimmy. The curtain finally went down on the Broadway show in April 2011 after over 400 performances.
